Executive Cardiac Screening

Early detection of "Silent Killers" such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure can prevent serious complications and ill-health.

The Executive Health Screening programme at Mount Elizabeth Hospital is designed to identify these illnesses or those factors which may pre-dispose you to developing these illnesses. With this knowledge, you can reduce your risks and increase your chances of living a long and healthy life.

Because the programme is hospital-based at the Special Diagnostics department, there is easy access to sophisticated equipment and referrals to specialists within the same complex.

The screening process is "user-friendly", giving you plenty of time to discuss your health and the results of the screening with your doctors.

The screening consists of:

Discussion with the doctor about your previous and present health.
A thorough physical examination.
Detailed laboratory test. (Blood, Urine and Stool examinations)
Resting 12 lead Electrocardiogram (heart test).
Computerised Treadmill Exercise (TMX).
Chest X-Ray.
Full abdomen ultrasound.

The Treadmill Stress Test is a specialised test for coronary heart disease. This is a disorder resulting from narrowing or blockages of the arteries which supply blood to the muscle pump of the heart. The heart is supplied with oxygen and blood through three main coronary arteries which branch into an efficient network of smaller vessels.

However, the gold standard for diagnosing coronary artery narrowing is by Cardiac Catheterisation or Coronary Angiography.
